Aims and objectives
We wish to be a spiritual home for the community of Moston – both for regular church goers and those more loosely linked. A place that upholds the historical faith traditions of the community, providing familiarity and continuity, refuge and comfort – but at the same time a place that helps to breathe new life into the community. We strive to be welcoming to all that cross our path and be thoughtful, considerate and supportive of those in our neighboring parishes and beyond through our membership of the Mission Partnership.
We know that to do this most effectively we must aim to support St Mary’s Church and its congregation in its growth and wellbeing, both physically and spiritually.
Ultimately, we want to be open hearted to the new things that God is calling us to do in his name in our community.
Next 2 years:
To achieve growth of the congregation with an increase in children and young families to grow our Kids & Youth Church and Youth Group.
To further empower and strengthen the congregation to actively work towards the parish’s aims and objectives in mission and especially to deepen the spiritual life of the church with a continuing emphasis on bible study and our prayer life.
Continue to develop and strengthen links with the local primary schools, especially St Mary’s C of E School and to start to build links with local high schools.
To promote and strengthen links with local churches of other denominations on an ecumenical basis and those in neighboring parishes to further the wider mission of the church.
To continue providing outreach and support to the community through the Pop-In, Youth Group and Stay and Play.
To continue offering regular Communion/Eucharist services and support from the ALM to the local care homes within our parish.
Prayer is how we talk to God and share our hopes and fears. And it’s how God talks to us and guides us and helps us.
As a church, we want to do what God wants us to do, so prayer is at the heart of all we do. There are plenty of opportunities for people to meet together to pray and to receive prayer.
Prayer Meeting: On alternative Wednesdays, we hold a Prayer Meeting to which everyone is welcome. This takes place at 10.30am following the morning worship service and lasts for about 30 minutes. The next meeting is 28th March and then every fortnight after that.
At St Mary’s, we believe that God cares just as passionately for the people outside the church as for those in it. God calls us as a church to make his love and care known to all people and to work for and with local people to transform our community.
Rev Phil Maudsley is our priest-in-charge, as well as for St Chad's Church in New Moston. He joined us in January 2019.
